Texas Tech football quarterback Behren Morton threw in practice on Wednesday for the first time in more than a month, coach Joey McGuire said, and will start the Red Raiders' Nov. 2 home game against TCU.
"If we played today, he would play," McGuire said. "He's back."

Morton suffered a grade-3 sprain to the AC joint in his right shoulder in Tech's Sept. 23 loss at West Virginia . He played through it until last week, when he missed Tech's loss at Brigham Young with the shoulder injury and effects from a hit to the back he took the week before against Kansas State .
Even though Morton started the next three games after the AC joint injury, the Tech staff saved his arm for Saturdays and didn't have him throw in practice.
Tech has an open date Saturday, and McGuire said sitting out the BYU game followed by the off week has helped Morton heal.
"No limits," McGuire said. "He'll be ready to go and (has) a lot bigger smile on his face. The guy was fighting through a lot. He had a grade-3 AC sprain, which is extremely painful. ... It's something that you can definitely play with. It's not even the pain during the game. It's the next day, you feel like you got hit by a truck.

"As far as shoulder mobility, he feels great. You can tell what he's wearing on his face. He's just smiling a lot more whenever he's out here, because he feels a lot better."
True freshman Jake Strong , in his first college action, replaced Morton for the second half of the Kansas State game on Oct. 14 and for the entirety of the game at BYU. Strong has completed 35 of 65 passes for 409 yards and two touchdowns, but has thrown six interceptions and was hurt last week by two missed handoff exchanges at critical moments early in the game.
