The Jacksonville Jaguars ushered in a new era Monday afternoon by with new head coach Liam Coen 's first press conference . Coen is the youngest head coach in franchise history and takes over for Doug Pederson, who was fired after three seasons at the helm.
Coen's first media session as head coach featured typical coach-speak answers . He spoke about playing complimentary football in all three phases, prioritizing players over plays, sound fundamentals and establishing team culture.

He also attempted a "Duuuval" chant when talking about the city and the community.
It's not exactly Dan Campbell talking about biting kneecaps on day one in Detroit but that moment likely stick with Coen at least through the offseason.
Here's what to know about the chant and what the response has been to Coen's first shot at it.
Duuuval chant, explained
"Duuuval!" is a chant or rallying cry for Jaguars fans used at games, the NFL draft or pretty much anywhere. It's a reference to Duval County where Jacksonville is located. The chant adds two extra U's to the name.
It's tough to pinpoint exactly when the chant started. Members of the Bold City Brigade, a Jaguars fan club, mention longtime Jaguars players Mike Peterson and Paul Spicer used the phrase as far back as the mid-2000s.
Other sources point to the chant gaining popularity in 2013 when Jaguars fans voted via Twitter (now X) to use the chant.
The term's been used in the Jacksonville area for decades as local radio figure DJ Easy E popularized it on radio drops in the 1990s.
In 2018, the team started a tradition of having a notable community member or former player lead the crowd in a "Duuuval!" chant before kickoff. NFL Hall of Fame tackle Tony Boselli was the first person to lead the chant.

Social media reacts to Liam Coen's "Duuuval" chant
The online response to Coen's attempt at the chant has been mixed. The 39-year-old's enthusiasm didn't go unnoticed but many commented on his cringy delivery.
Even Jaguars fans couldn't help but weigh in.
One user on X compared Coen to a well-meaning teacher.
Coen coordinated one of the most efficient and prolific offenses in the NFL in 2024 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . If he can get something close to that in year one with Jacksonville, Jaguars fans likely won't be too concerned about this viral moment.
