Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen will retain special teams coordinator Heath Farwell on his staff.
Coen confirmed Farwell's retention on Monday with a select group of reporters. Times-Union columnist Gene Frenette first reported Farwell's retention earlier Monday, including that he has signed a contract extension with Jacksonville. There hasn't been word about the future of assistant special teams coach Luke Thompson.
Farwell's unit turned out two players — punter Logan Cooke and long snapper Ross Matiscik for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Rookie kicker Cam Little converted 27 out of 29 field goals and all 27 extra points. His 93.1 FG percentage was third-best in the NFL.

When asked about Farwell and why he retained him, Coen got excited.
"You look at a group that did some really good things. Obviously, there's some specialists that performed special, but when I did some research on Heath [Farwell] and you looked at the background working for [ Las Vegas Raiders head coach] Pete [Carroll] as a former player and then going and working for the Bills ," said Coen about why Farwell was retained.
"And you saw the way Coach Carroll did things and that kind of collaborative approach, the confidence, the positivity, that message, and then you go to Buffalo and you're truly around [Buffalo Bills head coach] Sean McDermott who is fundamentals, technique, detail, no stone unturned. I thought that was a pretty cool kind of combination.
"And then you look at just when I talked to him, there's a shared kind of vision for what you want it to look like and how you want to coach guys on the grass and in the building and thought that was a no-brainer."
Jacksonville's special teams unit was by far the highest graded among the three units, offense defense and special teams. Returning the coach that made it all happen makes sense.
Coen will turn to the other coordinator positions in the coming days.
