- Jaguars, Brandon Scherff set to agree to restructured deal keeping him on the team in 2024
The Jacksonville Jaguars are close to agreeing to terms on a restructured contract with right guard Brandon Scherff , according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
The restructure will allow the veteran to remain with the team at least through the 2024 season, protecting Trevor Lawrence for a third season. With Scherff remaining in the fold, the Jaguars have their projected starting offensive linemen, Scherff and soon-to-be officially re-signed guard Ezra Cleveland .

Scherff was set to count $23,967,000 against the team's salary cap this year, the third-highest number on the team behind receiver Christian Kirk and outside linebacker Josh Allen who was tendered a one-year franchise tag worth $24,007,000 against the cap this year.
It is unclear at this time what Scherff's reworked deal will do to his current cap hit, but it's safe to say it'll lower significantly for him to remain with the team.
Scherff originally signed a three-year, $49.5 million deal with $30 million in guaranteed money during free agency in 2022.
In two years with the Jaguars, Scherff has played respectably, allowing 46 total pressures in two seasons, including eight sacks. Though the team's rushing attack was well below standard last year across the entire line, Scherff held his own in the passing game, allowing just two sacks after allowing six in 2022.

Scherff also allowed just 15 total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus, the third-fewest Scherff has allowed in his career since being drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by Washington.
Since joining the team, Scherff has dealt with multiple injuries, including a core muscle injury that required surgery last offseason.
Still, he has yet to miss a game, playing and starting in all 34 regular-season games with the club and two playoff games. Scherff has played an average of 95% of the team's offensive snaps in two years.

The Jaguars went in at the half with a 9 to 0 lead and came away with a 26 to 0 victory over the Panthers.
The Jaguars never found continuity on its offensive line last season due to a variety of factors. With Scherff and Cleveland in the fold for 2024, the team hopes the combination can lead to greater success moving forward.

Barring something unforeseen with left tackle Cam Robinson , it appears the Jaguars' line in 2024 could look like this from left to right: Robinson, Cleveland, Luke Fortner , Scherff and Anton Harrison .
That combination of players played just one game together, the final game of the regular season in 2023.
This is a developing story and will be updated when more is known.
