I have no clue what kind of potent voodoo juice the Nashville Predators had flowing through the nozzles of their water bottles on Thursday night, but I want to acquire some of that good stuff immediately.
Ideally, I'd grab an IV and hook it straight to my veins.
Whatever they were sipping on, the Preds were absolutely out of their collective minds during the first period of their clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning , busting out a pair of ghastly goals 14 minutes apart to take a two-zip lead into the break.
The first, coming six minutes into the contest, was one of the more absurd net-front deflections you'll see:
This is a criminal act. With big ol' Braydon Coburn draped all over his anatomy, Turris reacted to the Mattias Ekholm point shot the same way any of us would. He somehow was able to wrap his stick around the torso of the 6-foot-5 Lightning blueliner (against his own body's momentum) and connect with the puck for a perfect, blind deflection. While doing all that, he kept his stick below the crossbar to ensure the tally actually counted.
Nothing about this really makes any sense:
Insane level of difficulty on that bad boy, but Nashville wasn't done with the sickening tallies just yet.
After a boring 13 or so minutes without any goal-of-the-year candidates, the Preds ended that dry spell in a real hurry. Ryan Johansen activated the eyeballs at the back of his skull and someway, somehow found Roman Josi 's tape before Nashville's captain promptly buried past Tampa Bay's netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy .
Yeah, "wow" just about sums it up.
My lord.
