It's been quite an eventful week for Revere High School graduate Pete Nance .
Six days after Nance registered a triple-double for the Cleveland Charge, news broke Tuesday night about the Cavaliers giving him a 10-day contract. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the development, which the Beacon Journal confirmed through a league source.
A 6-foot-11 forward, Nance tallied eight points, six rebounds, three assists and one blocked shot Tuesday night for the Charge when they defeated the Westchester Knicks 125-117 on the road. Then on Thursday, the Cavs announced he signed his 10-day contract.
Nance's father, Larry Nance Sr., and older brother, Larry Nance Jr. , previously played for the Cavs. After Larry Nance Sr. became a franchise legend with the Cavs from 1987-94, he and his wife, Jaynee, raised their family in Bath Township.
Pete Nance played college basketball for four seasons at Northwestern and one at North Carolina before going undrafted this past summer and signing with the Cavs. He then played for their Summer League championship team . He has spent this season with the Charge, the NBA G League affiliate of the Cavs.
In 22 games with the Charge, Nance has averaged 13.3 points on 49.6% shooting from the field and 7.6 rebounds per game.
On Jan. 10, Nance compiled 27 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists for a triple-double in the Charge's 113-105 win over the Indiana Mad Ants.
Now Nance has a gig at the sport's highest level.
Nance will wear No. 8 on his jersey, according to the Cavs.
