Fresh off their second open date of the season, the Texas Tech football team heads into the home stretch of the 2024 season looking to pad its potential bowl game over the final two weeks.
The Red Raiders (6-4, 4-3) have lost three of their last four games overall but have a pair of winnable games that would got a long way in enhancing their bowl game. Chaos around the Big 12 has altered Texas Tech 's outlook, so here's where things stack up heading into Week 13.
Action Network: Armed Forces Bowl
Brett McMurphy of Action Network has a very different pick for the Red Raiders this week, putting Texas Tech in the Dec. 27 Armed Forces Bowl against Texas State . The game would be played in Fort Worth. The Bobcats and Red Raiders have squared off three times, all coming from 2011-2013 and Texas Tech winning each meeting.
CBS Sports: Rate Bowl
Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has joined the McGuire vs. McGuire projection train. His latest pairings have Texas Tech taking on Nebraska on Dec. 26 in the Rate Bowl at Phoenix. This would put Joey McGuire against his son Garrett and former boss Matt Rhule.
ESPN: Liberty Bowl & Texas Bowl
The ESPN pairing of Kyle Noagura and Mark Schlabach have split decisions on the Red Raiders' outlook this week. Schlabach has Texas Tech headed back to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis on Dec. 27 to square off with Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt. Bonagura, meanwhile, has Tech going to Houston for the Texas Bowl to take on Texas A&M in a New Year's Eve showdown.
247Sports: Birmingham Bowl
Brad Crawford of 247Sports has mixed things up a bit, pitting the Red Raiders against Florida in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 27. This would be the first meeting ever between Texas Tech and Florida on the gridiron. The Gators still need another win to become bowl-eligible.
