The Texas Tech football team's last addition on national signing day was one of the Red Raiders ' most highly sought prospects of all.
Late Wednesday, Tech announced the signing of Connor Carty, a 6-5, 300-pound offensive lineman from Prosper who was committed to Texas A&M from April 18 until Tuesday.
In addition to seeing Tech in April and July, Carty took visits over the past year to Oklahoma, Texas, Penn State and Southern Cal. According to recruiting services, he attracted scholarship offers from more than two dozen schools with Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss , Nebraska and Florida among the others.
Carty's projected to play on the inside. In the 247Sports composite index, he's ranked as the No. 56 prospect in the state for this year's class and No. 405 in the nation.
His addition appears to complete the Red Raiders' signing class at 18 players, six of whom are offensive lineman. Carty and Katy center prospect Patrick McMath (6-3, 260) are the only blockers from Texas, though. The others are Ren Brown (6-5, 300) from Stanton, Nebraska; Elias Gillen (6-6, 310) from Rapid City, S.D.; Danilo Guberinich (6-5, 285) from Detroit; and Gavin Maley from Papillion-La Vista, Neb.
