Texas Tech head football coach Joey McGuire speaks to the media during the Big 12 Media Days, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium, in Las Vegas.
Tech's non-conference schedule, previously known, consists of home games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Kent State and Oregon State.
The 2025 season will be the first time since 1940 that Tech has played so few home games against Texas schools. Houston is the only in-state opponent next season.
In 1940, Pete Cawthon's last year as head coach, the Red Raiders didn't play an opponent from Texas. That also was the last year Brigham Young played a football game in Lubbock, which will happen this coming season. The Red Raiders are scheduled to host the Cougars on Nov. 8.
