Judge rules LSU can roster ex-NFL players in defiance of SEC rules

A Louisiana district court has sided with the players and granted a preliminary injunction that prohibits the NCAA and SEC from punishing schools that put former NFL players on the field.

That's a lot of legalese, and that's a lot of legal jargon to say that the courts have favored on the side of Lane Kiffin at LSU and the players.

And Daquan Wright and Xavien Harris, players who previously participated in NFL training camps, have been granted NCAA eligibility.

And A- LSU will now be granted the right to put those players on their roster, and the roster is due today, 24 hours ahead of kickoff of the 2026 college football season.

Jay Busbee, your initial reaction to the hearing last night Well- ...and what will Lane Kiffin do?

Yes, let me first say that if I was offered the opportunity to go back to college, I would take it in a heartbeat, so I can understand why these players might want to leave the working world and head back to college.

But in terms of legality, yes, they have the ability to do it.

Will they do it?

The question here isn't so much these specific players.

I mean, they're, they're not, the, y- you're not talking about getting Joe Burrow back, let's say, on the, on the, LSU roster.

However, the issue is precedent: allowing these kinds of things to happen, allowing schools to dictate what they could do to conferences, or allowing conferences to dictate what they could do to schools.

That's the real issue here, and that's where I think Lane and LSU might try to test the boundaries here.

They, they in any normal situation, you would think, "Look, this is something that could be risking your playoff lives here."

This could be risking a massive fine.

Expulsion's not gonna happen from the SEC, but they could be risking post-season performances and that sort of thing.

However, LSU is an incredibly stubborn sort of team, and Lane Kiffin, as we know, is incredibly stubborn.

So we could absolutely see the, them, them put it on and just put the players on the roster just to see what it w- what happens because they don't wanna be told no
