2026 Heisman Rankings: Darian Mensah Closing in on Jeremiah Smith

Should Jeremiah Smith still lead the 2026 Heisman Trophy rankings after Ohio State's loss to USC, or has Miami quarterback Darian Mensah earned the No. 1 spot? PFN's Week 9 Heisman top five keeps Smith first despite the Buckeyes' loss and Julian Sayin's absence. Mensah climbs closer after throwing three touchdowns against North Carolina, but the upcoming Miami vs. Notre Dame matchup could decide whether he overtakes Smith. Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney holds third place after reaching 1,000 receiving yards in eight games. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss ranks fourth, with a Georgia matchup offering a chance to strengthen his candidacy. Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker rounds out the top five ahead of Notre Dame's CJ Carr, thanks to his passing production.
