Video Transcript

I think I was the only athlete to double, which is crazy.

I think it's very doable.

As someone who did seven races in seven days at European Championships, two races in two days isn't too bad.

And you know I love racing so much.

I love my job.

I think it's the most fun job in the world, so getting to come out in front of another European crowd and just kind of soak it all up And, you know, I'm 24.

I've, I have the luxury to be able to say yes to a lot of things and, and I love to race, so I'm, yeah, I'm happy that I did decide to double, and it's, it's, it's good for us to gain that confidence and to gain that, judge of where we are heading into Ultimates next week.

I love that.

Yeah.

Especially being very selective on the things you want to run and when they want to run.

But why were you, like, essentially pulled into shitty?

Was that- Yeah, I'm very much at the mercy of my coach.

He's very strict.

He's a strict taskmaster.

But also it kind of works for me.

I think I'm much more of a strength-based, sprinter.

I, I find that, my, my kind of My training is sometimes a lot more geared towards, 400 running.

The recovery is incredibly short.

We have, like, 45 seconds recovery in a lot of our winter sessions, and we're doing quite high volume.

So that enables me to be quite a strong round runner.

So it, it really helps me on a, on a weekend like this where it feels like a championships with two back-to-back evening sessions.

So I think the way that my training's set up allows me to kind of do this, and it also allows me to treat races as they were training sessions sometimes.

So we kind of still pick and choose which ones are our key targets throughout the year.

But we're always finding out stuff, and we're always learning so that then when we move into kind of the next phase of my career, we have a lot more information to work with.

Next phase, that's maybe 400?

Next phase, next phase may be when we move into the next kind of Olympic cycle.

I'm looking to, 400 would be fun, I think.

But that's definitely something for, like, far away in the future.

It's obviously super competitive right now, so I have no urgency to move up as of this moment.

But yeah, I'm, I'm really, really proud of the way I'm able to be kind of competitive across 1600 and 200.

I d- I don't think there's too many girls that can say that.

And I think what I've shown over the course of this year and last year is that I'm, I might be still kind of making a name for myself, and I might be, not coming with the fastest season's best every time, but I'm really not afraid to take anyone in the world on.

I, I'll, I'll go toe-to-toe, head-to-head with absolutely anyone and everyone.

I have so much love and respect for the girls, but I love head-to-heads, and I love being competitive, and I love racing.

So, racing as much as possible is something I, I adore.

Totally.

And, you know, we hear it a lot from sprinters, just like, you know, "Sometimes I don't focus on the times, but I focus on..." And that's something that you do so well.

You're always in the order of what exactly- I think there's times or there's points in the season where we are focusing on the times, and then there's points in the season where Such as tonight, it was much more head-to-head, you know?

The, the goal is to just go out there and win.

Not just for like Obviously this is, I think this is Diamond Plus, so the, the prize money for winning was, like, insane.

But, also just for, like, the kind of respect, the reputation, and there's nights where it's, where it's head-to-head, and there's nights where it's time trialing.

And yeah, tonight was a good one for me that I was able to pull up and beat some incredibly big names, so very proud of myself for that one.

And I think it bodes well going into Ultimates, how well I can kind of compete on that big stage.

Why?

Why do you- I will be doubling again, yes.

I can't say no to anything, so but I don't think I'm the only one next week.

I was the only one doubling this week, but I don't think I'm the only one next week.

So excited for that.

It's a good- She's the GOAT.

It's a good kind of opportunity to practice, multiple rounds in one day.

Obviously heading into LA where we have three rounds in one day.

So again, it's a sort of fact-finding mission for us.

It's a sort of opportunity to go out there and say, "F it.

This is the last race of the year.

Just go all out."

But also to kind of learn how to gauge my body and my reaction and my How I'm able to recover and it's, Yeah, it's all sorts of things wrapped in one, and I'm looking forward to it.

I think it's gonna be such a fun event.

Well, at least you said you're happy to do the 400.

What, what type of advantage does being able to do the 400- What type of advantage does being able to do the 400?

Oh, yeah, I think, I think it's so key going into next week, especially because I think this is maybe the first time that a lot of us or a lot of people have done two 200s in one day.

Obviously myself at my national trials and the Americans at their trials and maybe the Jamaicans have two competitive 200s in one day.

But it'll be interesting to see how everyone else kind of figures that one out and how, how we deal with only having two hours in between.

I'm also really looking forward to the lane draft.

I think that's such a good idea.

Been wanting to do that for ages 'cause I think I'm someone who shows up on the circuit, so I would like to think that my world ranking's pretty good and pretty solid, so it kind of plays in my favor a bit.

And yeah, I think it Being a smart athlete and having a coach that's also my physio and also incredibly smart, it definitely enables us to put that structure together in which I can run the rounds really effectively.

See you next week.

Thank you.
