Dolphins Struggle, Colts & Browns Show Promise in NFL
The Dolphins face a tough rebuild, while the Colts, led by GM Chris Ballard, look ready to challenge in the AFC. Browns' QB situation remains uncertain.

The Dolphins had a chance to play the Colts in a final exhibition season game for their schedule here.
I really do like some of the things that are going on in Indianapolis.
I think Indianapolis, make no mistake about it, I think if Daniel Jones is able to stand up and he's able to stay healthy, I think that Colts football team was gonna have an opportunity to go and play and do some things in the AFC this year.
They've got a great roster.
I think Chris Ballard is one of the better general managers in all of pro football, and it would not shock me if they threaten to be one of the final four teams in the AFC.
As for the Dolphins, the Dolphins are in a nuclear meltdown right now.
You know, when those two teams were playing against each other this past weekend, I'm watching both teams, and I'm looking at the Dolphin roster going, "Where are you going with this?"
Think about what they did.
Chris Greer was the general manager of that football team for over 10 years, and they never won a playoff game.
As a matter of fact, the Dolphins haven't won a playoff game in over 15 years.
And so when you're looking at where is that roster going, you got a $57 million cap hit with Tua Tagovailoa, who's now playing in Atlanta.
Where are the Dolphins going?
The Dolphins are probably five years away from contending for an opportunity to be a playoff team.
I thought another team had a great opportunity, and that was, again, the Cleveland Browns.
The Cleveland Browns may get a chance to do something at quarterback with Dillon Gabriel, because the two guys in front of Dillon Gabriel have not had a very good off-season, have not had a very good pre-season.
Look, Deshaun Watson has lost his mojo.
When this guy was in Houston, this guy's putting up 4,800 passing yards.
He's throwing over 40 touchdowns a year, and when he signed that gigantic contract with the Cleveland Browns, 230 fully guaranteed to go and play in Cleveland, it has just never been the same.
What happened to Deshaun Watson is just the fact that he's lost his confidence 'cause people don't believe in him.
Look, when you're a quarterback, you have to have the great confidence that everyone sees, and that you have a problem-solving situation where you can solve answers.
Watson can't.
With all those sexual allegations and all the things that, in the sidebar, that went around him, make no mistake about it, the times that you watch the Cleveland Browns play, there is no question, it all starts at the top with Jimmy Haslam.
They can't get that quarterback spot right.
Cleveland did take on Tennessee over the weekend, and I will say this.
As much as I love the University of Miami football players, I'm not sure Cam Ward's the guy.
I haven't seen it.
Let's do this.
How many times have you seen college football quarterbacks play one year and we try to say that they're a first-round talent, like a Mitchell Trubisky or what have you, and those guys go into the National Football League with only 13 or 14 games started, and you say, "Were those guys just a blip on the screen, or do you see some actual talent?"
Tennessee has not been able to do anything when it comes to building any talent around him yet.
They're bringing in Brian Daboll as the new offensive coordinator, and obviously Robert Saleh tried to build that defensive side of the ball up with Jeffrey Simmons, who they just gave a contract extension to in Tennessee.
I don't know the direction of where Tennessee is going with that football team, but let's go here.
Is Cam Ward the right guy?
I mean, they made him the number one overall selection.
They drafted their wide receiver out of Ohio State this year to try to help him, but I'm not sure Cam Ward is the right guy when it comes to Tennessee's future.
So again, what are we gonna see here?
I'll do this here with the Chicago Bears.
What are we gonna see in Chicago?
I think the best head football coach in the National Football League is the guy in Chicago.
I think Ben Johnson is the best NFL coach because he knows how to handle the number one position in all of the National Football League, and that is the quarterback position.
Let's not forget something.
Jared Goff was supposed to be a stopgap guy in Detroit.
He just signs a $53 million contract extension a year ago because Ben Johnson rejuvenated that guy's career and put him in a position to be the face of that franchise.
He goes over to Chicago, wins a division title in his very first year, turns Chicago around.
Maybe they have a quarterback that will throw for 4,000 yards.
That'd be the first quarterback in the history of the Chicago Bears to do that.
I like what they're doing in Chicago.
I don't like the stadium situation or what's going on with them.
However, Ben Johnson is a hell of a coach
