Game Recap: Portland Fire 101, Atlanta Dream 83 (08/28/2026)

The Fire defeated the Dream 101-83.

The Atlanta Dream have been on a tear of late, winning, four straight coming into their match-up against the Portland Fire, losers of three in a row.

We start you off with Portland, who trying to get back on the winning side of things as look at Bridget Carleton setting up Carla Leite, who explodes to the hole for the lay up.

Then on the other end, Jordan Canada drives into the post, puts on a series of fakes.

Hits a short little jumper, and one.

The free throw goes down.

Dream on a 14 to five run.

Emily Engstler drives into the post, scores on a little hook shot.

Off the glass, she had 11 points in the opening quarter.

The Fire lead by 10 after quarter number one.

Loose ball winds up with Leite, who throws out to Engstler, who just steps right into a triple, and it's up to a 16-point lead for the Fire.

Engstler 18 in the first half.

Leite dribbling to the top of the key, nails a tough pull-up three.

26 points, six assists in the game for her, and Portland's up by 17.

Game clock ticking, Rhyan Howard misses a three, but Teena Powpow scores on a put-back layup at the buzzer.

And at the break, Portland's lead was 15.

In the third, here come the Dream.

Naz Hillmon inside to Angel Reese.

Look at the power down there.

16 points, 16 rebounds, a double-double ties the WNBA single-season record for most double-doubles.

Then Rhyan Howard knocking down a side step three.

Then Jordan Canada drives and feeds Howard again for a three, and all of a sudden Atlanta right back in it.

It's a seven-point game.

Later in the third, game clock ticking, Leite feeds Engstler on the pick and pop.

She drains for three, and Portland ended the third quarter on a 14 to six run.

Canada drives, circles the baseline, feeds out to Howard for the three.

Howard, 26 points in the game.

Portland is still up though, 80 to 70.

Canada drives, flips up for shot, and banks that one in.

That cuts the lead down to six.

It's 82 to 76, but the Fire pull away late.

Jordan Harrison drives, throws cross-court to Holly Winterburn for a three.

She had 11 in the game.

The lead goes to nine.

Megan Dilleo scores on a layup from Bridget Carleton to seal the deal.

Dilleo, 16 points in the game as the Fire get the W, 101 to 83.
