They got us, gang.
The football gods finally got us.
Kyle Krabs from A to Z Sports, and it is official.
Fourth-round Miami Dolphins rookie Trey Moore will undergo ankle surgery for an injury suffered against the New York Giants early in their preseason contest at Hard Rock Stadium.
And this development frankly sucks.
Trey looked like he was going to be a major overachiever and have a strong niche role within Jeff Hafley's defense as the SAM linebacker, who could help toggle the Dolphins' front between three-four and four-three spacing with keeping the same personnel on the field.
That was certainly something that Jeff Hafley has talked about throughout the off-season, and this was the player that was potentially going to bring that to life.
We'll see what kind of pivot the Dolphins ultimately land.
But being completely honest, I don't think they have another player of this variation on the roster, so it's going to change some things until Trey Moore is hopefully back later this Moore blurs the lines between being a pass rusher and an off-ball linebacker, and that goes back to his tape at Texas as well.
And his departure now leaves the door open for who will be the next in line to be the overachieving rookie player out of the Dolphins' 13-player class.

All I can tell you right now is I hope to see Trey Moore back a lot sooner rather than later, but it doesn't sound like that's gonna be the case.
Here's hoping he gets some regular season reps throughout his rookie season at some point, because he could still be a very meaningful piece of the puzzle for the Dolphins and their future
