Night 2 SCM World Championship Trials Recap I Yahoo Sports
Night 2 of the Short Course Meters (SCM) World Championship Trials delivered another incredible night of swimming, with THREE world records, multiple American records, and some unforgettable performances!
Jack Alexy stole the spotlight by breaking the world record in the 100 freestyle, becoming the first American to swim under 45 seconds in the event. But he wasn't the only swimmer making history. Claire Curzan broke the world record in the 100 backstroke, while Kate Douglass came within just three hundredths of a second of her own 200 IM world record.
We also break down Gretchen Walsh's incredible 50 butterfly performance, Liberty Clark's American record in the 200 freestyle, Luca Urlando's American record in the 200 butterfly, and Van Mathias continuing his impressive run with another American record in the 50 breaststroke.
Plus, we discuss Simone Manuel's return to the international stage, Regan Smith missing qualification in the 100 backstroke, Ilya Kharun's battle in the 200 butterfly, and what these performances could mean for Team USA heading into the Short Course World Championships.
