Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Preseason Decision Creates BIG Debate
The Steelers are deciding whether Aaron Rodgers will play in Thursday night's preseason opener against the Packers, while first-round pick Maxine Archer is officially ruled out with an upper-body injury. With Pittsburgh's season hinging heavily on Rodgers' play, should the veteran quarterback even see the field in the preseason?

While we await to see who exactly will be out there during the Pittsburgh Steelers pre-season opener on Thursday night, we know for a fact now that rookie offensive tackle first-round pick Max Ionotcher will not be playing against the Green Bay Packers, and honestly, it's probably just a move out of precaution.
We saw him out there yesterday in pads going through some individual drills, despite the fact that Mike McCarthy said that he would not practice.
Don't know what happened today because the Steelers moved inside to the indoor facility again because of weather, but really ever since he got injured a little bit less than a week ago, it's something that wasn't super serious, wasn't super significant.
Mike McCarthy said he just needs to get his strength back.
And why rush out an offensive tackle who, if everything goes to plan, is gonna be with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a starter for the next decade plus?
So I don't think this is a big deal.
It was an upper body, you know, shoulder injury to begin with.
I think the Pittsburgh Steelers are just playing it smart.
But what I do think is a big deal is that Mike McCarthy said that by tonight, being Tuesday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have an idea of who's going to play in this game, and, and that includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers, of course, playing the Green Bay Packers for what could potentially be the final time.
The only way that they would play each other, the Steelers and the Packers, is if both of them made it to the Super Bowl.
So this is a little bit of a nostalgic game.
Of course, Mike McCarthy coached the Green Bay Packers with Aaron Rodgers.
It is the pre-season opener.
It is at home.
And I wouldn't be shocked if Aaron Rodgers played because Mike McCarthy said that Aaron Rodgers would like to play.
However, is that the smartest idea of forty-two going on forty-three-year-old quarterback who, let's be honest, the Steelers' season really hinges on how well he's going to play this year.
Throwing him out there, is that the smartest thing to do?
I don't know.
That's up for debate.
But what I will say is the Packers are gonna play Jordan Love a little bit, so they're probably gonna play some of their starters.
So it could make for a very interesting series or two if Aaron Rodgers gets out there.
