Tiffany surges in Kentucky Turf Cup Invitational

Last of the load for the Kentucky Turf Cup Invitational.
Michael Wrona has the call.
Racing, and they come away in quite an even line with Desvio dropping out to the rear.
Lay About will do the early honors.
Flink is back on for the first time since early 2025, and he finds a very comfortable front running position a couple of lengths from Ole Crazy Bone who's out a little bit wide.
And on the inside, the mare Tiffany is forwardly positioned in the run out of the home stretch.
And Dresden Ro splits horses with Ethical Diamond right on his back.
Desvio improving a few positions along the inside.
Burnham Square is three wide, six lengths off the early pace.
F35 splits horses in the yellow cap, and Fort George is the trailer.
Into the back stretch, less than a mile and an eighth to go, and Lay About on top two and a half lengths to Dresden Ro, followed by Tiffany inside Ole Crazy Bone, then Ethical Diamond, Burnham Square, Desvio, F35, and Fort George.
They race up the hill approaching the 7/8 pole, and Lay About clear now by three and a half lengths.
Dresden Ro second, followed in the pink colors by Ole Crazy Bone.
And between horses, Ethical Diamond, Tiffany along the inside as they top the rise and bend it downhill right-handed.
Burnham Square is next.
Desvio along the inside.
F35 and Fort George back at the tail of the field.
They're inside the five furlong marker, and Lay About's ensuring this develops into a true staying test as he kicks away by six lengths.
It's Lay About from Dresden Ro on the outside of Tiffany.
Three more lengths, Ethical Diamond.
Burnham Square is inching forward around the outside to join Ethical Diamond.
They're side by side at the half-mile pole with six lengths to make up.
Ole Crazy Bone is regressing at this point.
In fact, he's dropping right back to the tail.
Next on the inside is Desvio as the field bunches.
Lay About's come right back to them at the 3/8 pole, and it's Lay About swimming in deep waters now.
Dresden Ro's getting on terms with him.
The mare Tiffany's lurking just in behind those.
Burnham Square, Ethical Diamond continue side by side.
And Jamie Spencer brings Fort George to the middle of the course as they pass the 3/16 pole.
And Lay About has been headed by Tiffany.
Here's Ethical Diamond on the scene.
Burnham Square has dropped away.
Fort George is coming on.
It's Tiffany, the lone mare in front, with a 16th left to go.
Tiffany from Ethical Diamond and Fort George, and Tiffany wins.
Tiffany by two lengths from Ethical Diamond, Fort George, and they were clear of Dresden Ro.
She does it.
Ladies taking the t- taking the Turf Cup.
It is Tiffany for trainer Sir Mark Prescott.
Overcoming trouble right before she turned for home in the race.
The six-year-old mare has beaten the males for a fifth time in her career.
She did have to check a little bit, top of the stretch, angled back out, was still right on top of the leader, Lay About, as you hit the middle of the stretch, and she just overpowered these colts from that point on.
Give her a lot of credit.
She did not have a perfect trip by any means.
Trained by the legendary Sir Mark Prescott of England.
This is his very first win in North America, his very first starter in North America since 2017.
He doesn't ship very often, but I tell you what, this six-year-old mare has just been a paragon of consistency.
First or second in almost every one of her recent races.
Just won a Group 1 in Germany coming off, on August the 9th, her very last start, and she proved she belongs in the Breeder's Cup Turf if that's the path they choose to take.
So, Tiffany, had a little bit of trouble.
Also, Ethical Diamond had a little bit of trouble about the same point as Tiffany did, maybe slightly before.
So both one, two finishers had far from a perfect trip.
And a very disappointing performance, obviously, for Burnham Square.
You see him in the red silks.
They were just backing away.
I mean, he moved in tandem with Ethical Diamond.
As they were approaching the top of the stretch, it looked like it would be, it would come down to those two.
That was before Tiffany got through and made a big run.
But Burnham Square's dropping back toward the rear.
This, this was a very uncharacteristic performance for him.
Tiffany, Ethical Diamond finishing second, and Fort George finishing third.
So, the top three horses all- Euro, euro- coming over from Europe euro.
Yes.
Yeah, no shock there, right?
And they, this is the first European participation ever- Mm-hmm in the Kentucky Turf Cup.
