While two running backs were taken in the first round of last year's draft, just 13 have been taken since the 2013 NFL Draft. This is expected to be the fourth time in that span that no running backs have been taken in the first round. Some mock drafts don't have a running back is taken until the third round. Where will Michigan's Blake Corum go in the 2024 NFL Draft?
The running back position has been devalued in the NFL the last couple of seasons, but that did not stop Texas' Bijan Robinson and Alabama's Jahmyr Gibbs from being selected in the first round of last year's draft. Both players were seen as more certain prospects than anyone in the 2024 class.

Corum, Florida State's Trey Benson , and Texas' Jonathan Brooks have all dealt with injuries during their college careers, dinking their stock some. Corum, a 5-foot-8, 213-pound back, finished his Michigan career with 3,337 rushing yards and 58 rushing touchdowns. He also had 56 receptions, 411 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. His best season was the 2022 season, when he rushed for 1,463 yards.
Neither of USA TODAY's two mock drafts have Wilson featured in the first round. Here's a look at where various mock drafts have Corum projected to go:
-
ESPN's Matt Miller : Round 4, No. 105 overall to Los Angeles Chargers
-
CBS Sports : Round 3, No. 82 overall to Indianapolis Colts
-
The Athletic : Round 3, No. 69 overall to Los Angeles Chargers
-
Walter Football: Round 3, No. 88 overall to Green Bay Packers
Blake Corum scouting report
Corum is a highly productive, high-use back who runs downhill and has a talent for finding open running lanes. He'll bring the same workman-like mentality to the NFL. He's unlikely to be the feature back, but he figures to fit in as a backup in a running back rotation.

Blake Corum's best 2024 NFL Draft fit
Harbaugh is now coaching the Los Angeles Chargers, and the offense has seen a mass exodus, with Austin Ekeler heading to the Washington Commanders . The Chargers hold three picks in the second round, meaning they are positioned to spend on the position. The Arizona Cardinals — with an oft-injured, 28-year-old James Conner — could also be another fit.
