- Yankees pitcher, Twinsburg grad Scott Effross pays tribute to Jim Donovan at World Series
Jim Donovan made it to the World Series.
During the Stand Up to Cancer silent tribute during Game 4 of the World Series, New York Yankees reliever Scott Effross held up a placard with Donovan's name on it.
The longtime Browns radio voice and WKYC sports anchor died on Saturday after battling cancer for years. He was 68.
Tributes to the popular announcer poured out , and the Browns even managed to get him a win on Sunday.

No tribute may be more poignant than Effross' on Tuesday night. But why would a Yankees player be paying tribute to a Cleveland media celebrity?
As it turns out, Effross is a 2012 graduate of Twinsburg High School.
The 30-year-old was 8-1 with a 1.52 earned run average during his senior season at Twinsburg. From there, he played baseball at Indiana University and was selected in the 15th round of the 2015 MLB draft. He was traded to the Yankees in 2022.
But being from Northeast Ohio, Donovan's impact on Effross is apparent.
The Yankees may have eliminated the Guardians from the postseason, but at least they're not all bad.
