Recall alert: Major automaker dashboard displays failing, risking crashes

Hyundai Motor America is recalling some of its Genesis models because its display panels are failing, increasing the risk of a crash.

These instrument panel displays are what show information such as the speedometer or warning lights.

In total there are 4,754 cars being recalled with a 100% chance of the panel being defected, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Hyundai's with this issue are the Genesis G90s and GV60s with the years 2023 through 2025.

As a remedy, the panel display software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Sept. 15.
