A Florida Mercedes-Benz owner dropped their luxury SUV off at a dealership for repairs in September. Weeks later, their spouse returned to find mold growing inside the vehicle.

The owner, who goes by u/Kamimimi88 on Reddit, shared photos of the disturbing discovery in an October 27 post.

According to the post, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S had been experiencing air conditioning problems and dashboard glitches when it was taken to the dealership in early September.

Technicians discovered water damage beneath the dashboard and told the owner that replacement parts wouldn't arrive until December. In the meantime, the SUV remained at the dealership because it wasn't safe to drive.

However, when the owner's spouse stopped by to retrieve some belongings out of the vehicle, they found the Mercedes had been parked outside despite its existing water damage.

"Extremely heartbreaking that car was dumped outside and with more water leaking in Florida weather it created lovely environment for mold to grow," the owner wrote.

Photos shared along with the post showed what appeared to be a large amount of mold growth on the steering wheel and other interior surfaces.

The owner claimed even a dealership employee was shocked by the condition of the vehicle.

"Associate who was helping us get to the car said he never saw anything like that before and advised as to take pictures and call Benz directly," the Reddit user explained.

To make matters worse, the owner said they still had approximately 18 months remaining on their lease and were continuing to make payments on a vehicle they couldn't drive.

"Do we sue? What would you do?" they asked.

Reddit users were quick to criticize the dealership's alleged handling of the situation, with some suggesting the owner contact Mercedes-Benz directly or explore their insurance options.

Others questioned why a vehicle with a known water leak would be left exposed to Florida's humid and rainy weather while awaiting repairs.

The wonder didn't identify the dealership or provide an update on whether Mercedes-Benz had agreed to address the mold damage.
