Works
This is one of San Jose's rare galleries and performance spaces dedicated solely to alternative works, exhibitions and shows. Since the 1970s this place has stood out in Silicon Valley with its continuous showcasing of local and nationwide talent. Entirely volunteer-run, the gallery has sponsored a variety of events over the years, from video and new media artists to experimental performance works. Their diversified shows and exhibits attract people from all walks of life. Admission is free except for performance nights.
Art Studio/Gallery Established In 2015. Lucy's training in Studio Arts began in earnest at San Jose City College and West Valley Community College. She has been a working artist ever since. She has shown her work in dozens of shows across the San Francisco Bay Area including solo exhibitions. Her artwork crosses many mediums, from ceramics to mixed media with the incorporation of found objects. Her materials are often unconventional, from powdered pigments to acrylics, from fabric to spackle. Her artwork can be found in collections up and down the Pacific Coast and throughout the country.
Petroglyph
This is Willow Glen's resident creative lounge where you can come to paint original ceramic masterpieces for gifting or for relaxation. For a flat rate of less than USD15, you get unlimited studio time, firing, glazing and the use of paints and materials. The shop has a wide selection of ceramics to choose from, and you won't find just tiles and plates, although those can be a lot of fun too. Unique to this place is silver alchemy, a moldable clay-like material that once fired, becomes a pure silver color. Unbelievable but true, come and see for yourself. This store also organizes parties for kids' birthdays and private events.
Mexican Heritage Plaza is the Mecca for Latino culture in the South Bay. An art gallery, spectacular gardens and a state-of-the-art theater, as well as meeting rooms and offices, are all here. Concerts and festivals take place throughout the year, and the theater is the home of Los Lupenos de San Jose, a Latin folkloric dance troupe, and Teatro Vision, a theater collective. It is a lovely spot to spend a leisurely lunch hour or a sunny afternoon soaking up local culture.
