Destiny Arts Center offers a wide range of programs and classes for the benefit of our community's young people. Our programs offer a place for local youth to explore messages of nonviolence and social activism through the performing and martial arts. Within this safe, stimulating, multicultural learning environment, youth collaborate with their peers and professionally-trained staff to develop self-esteem, artistic expression, and personal empowerment. In addition to our on-site classes, we offer violence-prevention and movement arts workshops to schools and community groups in a variety of areas. Each workshop is custom-designed to fit your group needs, and may be taught by Destiny Adult Instructors and/or Youth Leaders. Contact us to design a workshop for your group. Fees depend on group size, workshop content and length, and your organization's budget.

Desiree specializes in both wedding choreography and quinceañera/cotillion choreography, along with day-of and full event coordinating support to bring every celebration to life. For weddings, Desiree creates personalized first dances, parent dances, and reception choreography tailored to each couple’s style, comfort level, and vision. Whether the couple wants something timeless and elegant or fun and upbeat, Desiree guides them step-by-step through a routine that feels natural and unforgettable. For quinceañeras and cotillions, Desiree designs complete court choreography, including the waltz, surprise dance, court entrances, and transitions. She coordinates rehearsal schedules, manages formations, and ensures the entire program feels polished, organized, and seamless. Alongside dance training, Desiree provides event coordinating services to keep everything running smoothly—from timelines and music planning to day-of flow and communication with families and vendors. Every event is unique, and Desiree is dedicated to helping each client shine with confidence, connection, and creativity.
Join us every Tuesday night to learn how to do the original American club dance from the jazz era - the lindy hop! Don't miss the opportunity to dance to great live music every last Tuesday of the month or to the expertise of local DJ's all other nights. At the moment, we offer two levels of classes and are organized into monthly series. No partner required. Just wear comfy shoes and get ready for a fun night of dancing! Pssst! The first week the classes are drop-ins. Give it a try! Stil not sure? We offer a taster class each week at 8:30 pm - included in the admission of the social dance night. Our classes and dance party are held at the vintage Starline Social Club, just blocks away from downtown Oakland. Downstairs from the ballroom is a full bar with wide selection of drinks and food, making it a great night to mingling with new people or hanging out with friends or significant other.
