Center of Music & Performing Arts-Southwest (COMPÁS) provides year-round arts education to youth in Southwest Detroit. This programming includes various genres of dance, instrumental music and art, all with the focus on the rich Latino heritage of Southwest Detroit. COMPÁS helps youth embrace their culture, promote confidence, teamwork, and discipline, and learn and enhance performance skills. COMPÁS specializes in offering high-quality instructional classes in dance and music across various forms and styles with an emphasis on youth development. Our programming preserves the Latino/a heritage of Southwest Detroit and celebrates the diversity of our community through the arts. We work with the community as a partner and resource to provide cultural experiences and programs that engage the community. artLabJ is a non-profit organization, founded in 2012 to provide a space for literary and performing artists. Our goal is to encourage artists in New York and Detroit to present the performing arts, giving them an opportunity for the development of the arts in Detroit. We host theatre, dance, music, film, video, drawings and more. Both of our current spaces are available for rehearsals, performances and exhibitions.
Creative Movement Brazil is a non-profit organization that provides classes in Capoeira, Zumba, Belly Dance, and Batucada in Michigan.
