The LAB Dance Complex centers on inclusion, safety, equity, health, and exploration for people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and gender identities, to express themselves through movement and the art of dance. The LAB prioritizes students’ mental and emotional health and uses a body-positive teaching style. Our classes range from experimentation and discovery to developing classical technique and structuring movement to communicate. At the LAB we help our students realize their full potential and cultivate their own unique artistic expression.

What sets us apart as an educational dance conservatory is our focus on technique. We teach classical dance from an educational approach. We believe students should understand the placement of their bodies and where movement is initiated from. Understanding how to articulate the feet through the floor, understanding how to feel lift through their center to hold a balance, understanding how to move their pelvis through space and create height in their jumps. Everything starts at the barre with a technical focus and dedicated educators. We are proud to have a professional faculty to guide our students and help them reach their full potential.
The Faculty at Dutchess School of Performing Arts is dedicated to providing an environment that inspires young people to learn and grow through the Art of Dance and Music. The Conservatory-based training nurtures positive attitudes, dedication and development of artistic potential. The value of this training offers students the tools for life-long success including, confidence, self-esteem, creativity, discipline and individual growth.
