The charming 68-seat Acrosstown Repertory Theatre offers patrons a unique and innovative cultural experience in an intimate turn of-the-century space. The ART's mainstage shows run the emotional gamut-- heartwrenching dramas, topical period pieces, toe-tapping musicals, and laugh-out-loud comedies-- the common thread being our desire to start a conversation and create theatre for thinking people. Founded in 1980, the ART develops new talent, plays, audiences and ideas while also celebrating and revivifying great plays of the past. The volunteer-run ART provides a safe place where people of all ages, genders, races, socio-economic backgrounds and beliefs can create unsafe theatre- theatre that transforms. With at least seven mainstage productions and dozens of events a year, something is always happening at the ART! The ART is located inside the historic Baird Hardware Center; the main entrance is just north of the Depot Ave traffic circle and the Cade museum.
