Public Functionary (PF) is a gallery and public gathering space for art events and performances. Public Functionary is located in the Northrup King Building with two community spaces -- #144 and #247 as well as 5 studio spaces for the artists in residence as part of the PF Studios program. In 2019, Public Functionary launched PF STUDIOS in the Northrup King Building to empower young artists to grow their practice + community. The program centers early career artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, people of color, queer, trans and gender fluid. The studios are a multi-disciplinary exploration and collaboration. PF Studios has grown to a cohort of 26 early career visual artists in residence, supported with affordable space, mentorship, workshops, and economic opportunity. And, an evolving member base in The Study, a communal work space for producers and media/music artists.
Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum's mostly 20th-century collection contains the world's largest assemblage of works by Marsden Hartley and Alfred Maurer, as well as paintings and prints by Georgia O'Keefe, Arthur Dove and Robert Motherwell. However, many critics consider the building itself to be a stunning piece of art. Designed by Frank Gehry, the flamboyant 1993 building is possibly the most talked-about structure in the Twin Cities. The museum's collections are displayed in galleries the New York Times has referred to as possibly the five best rooms for art viewing in the world. Admission is free. The Franklin Art Works is an open space art gallery located in Minneapolis. If you are an artist and looking to showcase your work while in the city then do head here. The center is located in a historic building where the interiors are well furnished with sufficient lightening that will bring about the best in your artwork.
The Howard Conn Fine Arts Center is a theater that is housed in the Plymouth Congregational Church. It is one of the venues which is used by the Youth Performance Organization for their activities and shows. Usually, performances based on the Bible or in relation to religious beliefs are enacted at this venue.
