I teach piano, guitar, ukulele, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, baritone horn and euphonium. As a composer, I want my students to hear and invent as well as read music, so we all learn solfege singing (do, re, mi etc) rhythmic echo and invention . Piano students learn classical technique but have option to learn to play chords and sing popular songs they like. Guitar students, also classical technique and finger style as well as basic strumming patterns and may apply all that to popular songs they would like to play and sing. Each instrument I teach, I've studied for years, so I'd be a proficient player. It was necessary for me to know how to play that instrument properly and thereby teach students good playing habits for their instrument. Lessons cost $30. for half hour, siblings often study in a combined lesson, 45 minutes-1 hour, each learning separately and ear training together. My home studio is near Gilbert Rd./Riggs Rd. and I'd welcome your questions!
