Through personalized lesson planning I help students achieve their own personal goals by attaining the tools needed to be the style of musician the student is seeking to be. My specialty as a music education and performance major is based on instructing Guitar in a classical performance setting as well as instructing theory, composition, form, and production. I began learning music in the school band playing alto and baritone saxophone. When I entered high school I began playing electric guitar taking influence from David Gilmore, Tony iommi, John Petrucci, Chris Broderick, Paul Masvidal and Robert Fripp. Mainly lead guitar players of classic rock and heavy metal. When I entered college my influences in music began to change because of the amount of in depth knowledge I began to obtain in music theory and history classes. Jazz and classical music became my foundations in which I can relate and analyze modern contemporary music. Although the material my individual students are working on may look and sound completely different, the foundations which I provide them are all the same: Development of Technique, Understanding of Theory and Form, Building a solid repertoire, and Practicing ear training.
