Generation Music & Arts Academy is a 501(C)3 Creative Youth Development nonprofit offering equitable access to high-quality music and arts education for all. Our vision is to inspire and empower the youth to make positive changes in their lives and the community. By integrating music literacy, technology, and harmony throughout our program, the student can have a transformative experience in music that develops a growth mindset. Each program is designed to encourage and challenge the students to learn and develop life skills associated while nourishing their creativity. Our team strives to provide musical performance opportunities to the students, families, and the community. We provide one on one private lessons in piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, drums, violin, viola, cello, alto saxophone, clarinet, flute. We also do group lessons and ensembles.
JOHN D ..teaching over 40 years..... John teaches students to play by note, chord and ear. He specializes in "playing the way the pros play" (using lead sheets, and arranging your songs yourself). John is a master at his craft, and can get you on the fast-track to your musical goals. Playing experience includes everything from cruises to casinos, nightclubs, studio work, accompaniment, arranger, nearly every gig in every style. John studied with the legendary Don Haas, local great Smith Dobson, and Larry Muhoberac to name a few.
CVSOM recognizes that each student is different, so we believe it's important to design a lesson plan to fit each individuals musical goals. We customize lesson plans for each student that may involve one, or a combination of the following arrangements; Private Lessons offer a focused, one-on-one lesson where the teacher is able to devote their attention to one student. We offer 30, 45 and 60 minute private lessons on all instruments. Buddy Lessons are designed to give two or three students the chance to work together. This is a particularly good option for beginners when students are learning the basics. It's also a fun way for parents and kids to take lessons together. Group Classes offer students an interactive environment for learning an instrument or topic with other students. We offer ongoing group classes for instruments like piano, guitar, voice and music theory. Combo Lessons are designed to get students playing together on different instruments. They involve one teacher with two, three or four students where the focus is on playing songs together as a group. Our 5,000 sq. ft. facility is like nothing else in the Bay Area. We have 15 lesson rooms ranging in size from private lessons to large group classes. At the center of the space we have a stage for events like school recitals, open mics, karaoke nights and more.
Music and Movement classes for babies, toddlers and preschooler--and the adults who love them! Come and join the fun with your little one. A Music Together class is 45 minutes of PURE FUN with your child each week. A community of families sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. Music learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children. Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers participating at their own levels in family-style classes of mixed ages. Class size ranges from six to twelve students. Parents and caregivers contributing to the enrichment of their child's music environment-regardless of their own musical abilities. A new song collection every semester for three years, featuring a wide variety of tonalities, meters and cultural styles.

He has experience with all levels of prior musical training, and his areas of instruction include piano, guitar, composition/songwriting, music theory, music production, and much more. Devin customizes each lesson plan with the individual students’ musical aims in focus. He doesn’t operate under the “one-size-fits-all” philosophy for teaching music, and believes that there are many paths toward successful musicianship!
