Tyler specializes in teaching guitar, ukulele, mandolin and banjo. He can also incorporate singing, piano and music theory within lessons if a student is interested. Tyler emphasizes playing music in lessons, and stresses the importance of notational fluency to students in an attempt to develop their sense of musical independence and autonomy. Tyler encourages all of his students to improvise, compose or write songs on their instruments, and constantly seeks opportunities to allow students to perform and collaborate with their peers. Tyler wants students to explore different genres of music on their instruments, whether it be traditional, jazz, classical, rock or popular music.
