PHILOSOPHY We teach students how to play music. We also teach them to play the music they want to play. We do not dictate or prescribe a single method or musical style. We work with parents/guardians and their children to individualize instruction through an emergent curriculum that incorporates the interests and goals of the student, this includes adult students as well. When teaching children we try to make it fun by focusing on musical pieces of their choice. In the process of learning to play, the children learn the fundamentals of rhythm, harmony, music theory, and the reading of music notation. We also encourage exposing children to diverse musical styles and genres, to increase their musical understanding and versatility, and to expand and enrich their repertoires. My prices are relatively cheap. I also help students get any materials they need. (ie. saxophone, reeds, music books, etc...) Piano lessons include instruction in reading music, technique, interpretation, theory, sight-reading, and ear training. It is my goal to fully develop the students musical potential. A minimum of two recitals will be scheduled in a school year. Students participation in concerts, recitals, competitions and other events is encouraged but not required.
