I have been teaching piano at my studio in Vallejo since1990 (and before that in San Francisco). I hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance from San Francisco State University, and am a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California. I have extensive experience as piano soloist and accompanist, as church organist, and in musical theater. I offer a comprehensive program of piano technique and repertoire, ear training, and music theory. While my approach is essentially classical, and study of the classic repertoire is a key component of it, my aim is to develop independent musicians who have a command of the instrument and an understanding of how music works, so that they can take up any style that interests them or develop their own style. Through the MTAC I offer the Certificate of Merit program, for those who want tangible evidence of their progress; there is also the opportunity to participate in competitions and recitals.
