Honolulu Music Lessons Workshop is currently offering Lessons for both adults and children age 4 and older for all instruments in orchestra, jazz band and rock band including: Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Ukulele, Electric Bass Guitar, Upright Bass or Double Bass, Piano, Voice, Drums, Violin, Viola, Cello, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Ryuteki Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba and Mandolin. We also have lessons in Music Theory, Composition, Electronic Music and Music Production/Recording Arts and Band. Our instructors are not only highly qualified and experienced, we offer lessons in a positive and encouraging atmosphere and we do much more than just Classical Lessons, we offer modern methods that are adaptable to student needs and goals, stylistic diversity and modern technology that aids in the learning process. We also offer some lessons in German, French and Spanish languages if requested. We serve the island of Oahu with both in-person and online lessons but mainly the Manoa, Kaimuki, Waikiki, Makiki and Mo’ili’ili areas of Honolulu. Students age 4 can enroll in a private lesson called General Music which is a 30-minute weekly lesson that is a combination of singing and playing piano.
Professional and guided instruction in string instruments; primarily cello, viola, double bass, classical guitar, electric and acoustic guitars, MIDI implementation and sound engineering. In addition to the applied arts, music theory and composition studies are offered on one-on-one basis. All studies are offered with customized curriculum based on the student's need and requirement. Theresa believes that there is no substitute for a "hands on" teacher that can aid in correcting bad posture, hand positions and technique to name but a few that online instructors will never catch or correct. Additionally having the student in front of you helps diagnose their deficiencies (Front and side perspectives) including issues with their instrument. This is why she does not offer online lessons for those that ask.

The Pacific School of Music features instruction for piano, guitar, saxophone, flute, clarinet, trumpet, violin, drums, ukulele and voice. Teachers are experienced not only in teaching, but in performing and performing techniques. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes are offered, and most lessons are private, one on one instruction. Quality of instruction is always our first consideration. Lessons are 30 minutes in length, and make up lessons are available with proper notice.
Joyce Shih has been teaching piano to all ages of students in East Oahu since 1964. For fifty years, the music lessons she provided have help to shape the character and intelligent development of present day community leaders. These students who are now doctors, professors, pharmacists, and musicians benefited from her love and appreciation of classical music. Joyce earned her classical piano degree from Taiwan National University. She has constantly upgrade her formal piano teaching skills by attending international festivals, such as Summer Academy at Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Her philosophy for teaching is through the joy of learning classical piano to inspire creative thinking both for young and matured students, repetition of work of genius from the great masters creates a happy lifelong learning in whatever successful career one chooses. First lesson is free due to my need to assess the client's needs. Primarily, I teach private Voice and Piano lessons. I also work with students who are interested in Auditioning for a show or singing group. I have worked with students on special projects which include Recording and Music Composition. I have also worked with students with disabilities, that is, Asperger and Autism. I stand out as one of the few teachers who will streamline your vocal interests. Whether it be Pop or Show tunes, or Opera, or to develop more self-confidence, I will work with you to achieve your goals.

Drum Lessons & Coaching My teaching approach is responsive to the needs of each individual student, and I work with students age 15 and older, at any point in their musical development. In 2003, I graduated from the Vienna Conservatory in Austria and I have been teaching drums privately and for institutions, such as the Vienna International School, or Chuck James Music School (on Oahu) for over 17 years. I tailor each lesson to support each student in becoming the best player he or she can be, and I offer concepts and solutions to help in each student's musical journey and to overcome any roadblocks along the way.
