Sixth Generation Strings is a family violin shop in downtown Saratoga Springs, run by Thomas Dunn, a sixth-generation violin maker of the Frirsz family and apprentice of master luthier Nicholas Frirsz. We handcraft violins, violas, and cellos in the shop — including the Frirsz Asymmetric Viola — and fit every commission with our Perfect Sixth Fit™ System, which proportions the instrument to the player's own measurements. Alongside our custom work we offer repairs and restoration, bow rehairs, and violin, viola, and cello rentals for students and advancing players. Learning to play the piano is a valuable connection for singers. We offer voice and piano lessons for all ages. Also, we offer coaching for singers and instrumentalists. We are in the Bennington, VA, Shaftsbury, VA, Arlington, VA and Williamstown MA.
