Music is important at any age. Anyone who plays an instrument can speak the praises and tell you of the joy that is playing music. Learning the ins and outs of an instrument can lead to a fulfilling hobby or profession, but not everyone knows where to go or how to learn. Thankfully, professional music instructor Dr. Kathleen Bondurant wants to share her knowledge with the people of Austin. Dr. Kathleen Bondurant, the youngest woman to receive a Ph.D from the School of Arts and Sciences, earned her master's degree and a Ph.D in flute from New York University. She has been a university professor at various universities and colleges in the United States and abroad, where she has been teaching flute, piano, music history as well as music theory. She has studied under some of the best instrumentalists representing their fields, such as renowned jazz pianist Ray Santisi, International performer and accompanist Phillip Moll, and some of the world's most famous flautists including Jean-Pierre Rampal, Julius Baker, and Sir James Galway. As a result, Dr. Bondurant herself has also gained the honor of being known as one of the best flute teachers in the country.
