Located just north of the Tompkins Square Park on Avenue A, Tompkins Square Bagels offers all things bagel related. The area was overdue for a fully functioning bagel shop and now it has one that features a locally created mosaic sign above to welcome all. The choice of bagels and spreads, with such standards as salt or onion to go with lox, whitefish, or scallion, among others, is fairly extensive. Lines tend to come and go with peaks and valleys throughout the day. Seating in the back is functional for small groups. TSB also features a range of drinks including coffee and teas as well as some other dry goods available on shelves for purchase. There's a little outdoor space in the back that could be a nice retreat from the city in the summer. For a smorgasbord of bagel delights, check it out.

From its humble beginnings on East Houston Street, Russ & Daughters has grown to be a Manhattan legend. The iconic NY deli offers this cafe on Orchard street, just a few blocks away from the original store where it all started. The cafe offers a menu rife with traditional Jewish delicacies alongside a few creative renditions. Their smoked fish and bagels are definitely a must-try, although their infused caviar, babka, potato latkes, lox, matzo ball soup, and other deli-style dishes are just as delicious. Fashioned to resemble a modern-day diner, the cafe is just as charming and friendly as its offerings are delicious. Try the egg cream if you're looking to pair your meal with something other than coffee.

Opened in 2001 with the aim of making available a variety of freshly baked items to New Yorkers, Clinton St. Baking Company also functions as a classic American restaurant. Apart from offering delicious muffins, scones, and cakes to several other establishments throughout the city, it also runs this cozy restaurant at its Clinton Street outlet. Owner couple Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman present delectable all-American dishes prepared using fresh ingredients. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack-time, this eatery on the Lower East Side is here to cater to your palate with its house-made biscuits, hearty breakfast plates, waffles, coffee, and seasonal drinks.
Since 1891, the Zeccardi family has run this pastry/coffeeshop in Little Italy, and it has remained at this same address for over a century. Inside, the bakery offers homemade sfogliatella, biscotti, tiramisu, cheesecake and much, much more. The interior retains many of its archaic architectural details and although the neighborhood of Little Italy may be disappearing as many older Italian haunts shutter their doors, hopefully the Zeccardi family can stay here for another "cent'anni", or 100 more years.
