Yes, there was a real Grandma Hoerner born in Kansas in the late 1800's. Her first name was Mabel and even when she was young she loved to cook. Being raised on a farm with an apple orchard, she learned how to make a variety of dishes using apples. After she married and started to raise a family, she became known for her all around mastery in the kitchen. One of everyone's favorite recipes was her extra chunky applesauce made from thick slices of fresh apples. Because it was so popular, she would give it as gifts. Little did she know that one day, one of her grandsons, Duane McCoy, would introduce her applesauce to the world. Duane searched the marketplace for something similar to this wonderful applesauce, but found nothing like it. In 1987, he started producing and marketing Grandma Hoerner's Applesauce. Old fashioned quality, all natural goodness, no artificial ingredients, and an absolutely delicious taste is what Grandma Mabel Hoerner created. Today it is being offered to the world through her grandson and is available in 19 fabulous flavors.
