Located within the world-famous department store Bloomingdale's, this is one of Magnolia Bakery's most popular outlets. If you love cakes, pastries, cupcakes and chocolates with distinctly feminine garnishes, then this is the place for you. Of course, it has daily cupcakes, muffins, classic red velvet cake, cookies and pies for every kind of customer. But the highlights are white and ice blue cupcakes shaped like roses, charming yellow and lavender cakes sprinkled with Gems and candies, strawberry desserts in red cupcake bowls, and mint green iced sugar decorations. Even their chocolate bars are packed in beautiful wrappers of pastel colors. This Parisian-style bakery even has unusual and eye-popping cake options for weddings.
This upscale market became so popular so quickly that the owners opened two other locations (one on the Eastside and one in the Wall Street area). The store offers a bevy of gourmet foods, including a prepared food bar. The seafood and meat selections are incredible, as are the fresh baked breads section and a wide array of olives by the pound. Always fresh, their fruits and vegetables are sold at farmers' market prices. Offering many ethnic foods and cooking supplies from Italian to Thai, a visit to the Amish is always a treat.
