When presented with the opportunity to create a cafe space at the new Embassy Suites hotel--serving even more locals and visitors-- we found it a perfect next step. A petit cafe in downtown Rockford, Katie’s Cup is named after the wife of Martin Luther, Katharina Luther, and was founded with help from the Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries. The decor is charming, with the menu being written on blackboards, with bare brick walls lining most of the cafe. Besides the sumptuously fresh coffee and baked delicacies, the cafe also sells crafts handmade by local artists. Katie’s Cup also rents out its premises for a range of events.
