When Mr. Worrell founded and incorporated the small, exclusively commercial, general contracting business in 1956, he set the groundwork for excellence that continues to be the foundation of the company's reputation. Today, Rives E. Worrell Company, Inc is a major contracting firm in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, with an annual construction volume in excess of twenty-five million dollars. Its project base includes office buildings, institutions, schools, hospitals, churches and major renovation projects. The company has a sufficient surety line to bond any work in which it elects to engage, and enjoys an excellent line of credit with its suppliers. More than half of the volume of work performed by Rives E. Worrell Company is handled on a negotiated basis. The remaining contracts are obtained through competitive bidding. Murphy, Jr. purchased the company and brought in his son, Walter B. Murphy, III. The manifestation of that vision is in the quality and excellence of construction.
