Formerly known as Oakland Health Club, this is one of the only historic bathhouse in Detroit with a storied past, when it served as a cleansing and restoration center for Russian Jews. With changing times and change in ownership, the Schvitz Health Club is a hot spot with the locals for wellness and health treatments. The facility is spread over three floors and has a basement which is home to a large pool with a neighboring steam room, laundry and a changing room. On the main level there is a front reception, locker facility, dining room and a Mikveh. On second floor there is a large and open space used for hosting parties and sporting events. In addition, there is an oasis-like patio for guests. The spa welcomes everyone and is an ideal place for relaxation, detoxification and renewal. The entry for men only and women only has been split for certain days in a week, while bathing suits are mandatory during co-ed days.
