Our teaching is grounded in classical yoga and springs from its study and personal practice off and on the mat. Our teaching allows for the powerful benefits of mind and body that yoga brings to come alive in students. And for the experience (practice) to become the teacher. We use language that is easily accessible and focus on enabling our students to connect to their full potential, radiant vitality, balance, strength and joy.
Everyone is welcome: we offer classes for students of all ages and backgrounds, and on weekends we often host compelling events. Our progressive schedule includes classes that range from the traditional to the eclectic, from challenging, fast-paced yoga to therapeutic and gentle-stretchy yoga, from pre-natal classes to yoga for athletes. We invite the community at large to experience the far-reaching powers of yoga, by offering weekly classes to support a different charity each month, and by hosting free “chair yoga” classes twice a week, for seniors and the mobility-impaired.

Skanda Yoga Studio is a sacred space for practices that challenge and transform the spirit. Yoga is first and foremost a scientific technology that harnesses the innate capability of the body as a vehicle for transformation. It is a universal tool that, when used properly, unveils the light at the core of our being and helps us identify as an artful expression of Grace. Motivated by a deep love of the human condition, we maintain that yoga is a birthright of every human being, and we hence aim to uphold yoga as an agent of personal and community development. We are the home of Skanda Yoga, an emerging style of yoga that embraces techniques from many traditions. It is a breath-inspired alignment-based power vinyasa style that sets a physical and spiritual intention based on the daily oracle of the Maya calendar systems. The Warrior Spirit is invoked for a challenging, inspiring, and transformational practice.
Founded by international yoga teacher Mimi Ghandour, and located in Wynwood 278 NW 27th Street, the Mimi Yoga Studio offers a variety of yoga modalities including heated signature power, vinyasa, and restorative flows. Daily classes are designed for students of all levels honoring a mission for creating community and holding space for personal transformation. Mats and towels are available for rental and each class ends with a complimentary cold, rose essential oil-infused towel placed gently on student’s foreheads during final resting pose, savasana. At Mimi Yoga, we are connected by our passion to serve others and our community. We love what we do and we do it with humility, compassion and pride. Rooted in tradition yet embodying the energy and mindset of the modern warrior, we are open to others, joyful and creative, sharing the magic of simply showing up each day for each other and our community. We are changing yoga stereotypes and we are doing it our own way. We celebrate kindness, authenticity, inclusivity, and a sense of lightness and joy.
