I’ve spent over 20 years as a fine art painter, and that background shapes how I approach every portrait session. Long before I picked up a camera professionally, I was trained to think about light, structure, and form the way painters do: where shadow actually falls, how contrast builds mood, what makes a face read as alive rather than just documented. That instinct carries directly into my photography. My work is built around controlled lighting, low key contrast, and rim light, the same tools I’d reach for on canvas, just applied through a different medium.
