Best Management Practices are "Schedules of activities, prohibitions of practices, maintenance procedures and other management practices designed to prevent or reduce the pollution of waters of the United States." BMP's applied to construction sites include erosion control and sediment control. Erosion control is the process of preventing soil particles from being dislodged. Erosion control can keep soil disturbances on site to a minimum, lessening the need for extensive soil re-working and minimize the need to maintain sediment control. BMP's can be anything imaginable to prevent or limit sediment and erosion.
