Operating as a member-owned nonprofit cooperative, HOURCAR has pioneered community-driven carsharing in the Twin Cities since 2005. Born under Neighborhood Energy Connection and fully independent since 2017, every dollar we raise goes back into better rates, better service and cleaner air rather than shareholder profits. In partnership with Minneapolis, Saint Paul and other agencies, we launched what is now the EV Spot Network—the western hemisphere’s largest all-renewable electric vehicle charging and sharing system. Members can reserve cars at neighborhood hubs or use the Evie Carshare app to unlock any of more than 150 free-floating EVs. Today we operate nearly 100 HOURCAR-branded ICE, hybrid and electric vehicles and oversee over 170 all-electric cars through Evie Carshare, expanding access to affordable, low-carbon mobility while reinvesting in stronger, more inclusive neighborhoods.
