Torrance Adult School (TAS) offers classes to individuals who are ages 18 years and older. The school specializes in high school diploma and equivalency (GED / HiSET) preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Career Technical Education (CTE) including Medical Terminology, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Pharmacy Technician, Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Accounting and QuickBooks. The career classes prepare students for a job in Allied Health or Business/Finance and Accounting. They also prepare students for industry and State and National certifications. The school also has a robust Community Education and Interest program through which it offers parent education, art, dance, floral design, language, personal finance, instrument, physical fitness, wellness, and special interest classes. The school offers a variety of student support services including academic counseling, career preparation, and college transition support. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Hamilton Center, located in Torrance, Calif., is a part of the Torrance Adult School. It provides educational programs to adults in various areas, including computer software applications, repair, security, accounting, floral designing and cosmetology. Its other programs include parenting, basic sewing, languages, arts and crafts, and health, fitness and exercises. It organizes education development program that include courses in writing skills, social studies, science, mathematics, and interpretation of literature and arts. In addition, it offers technical educational classes, including Web designing, photography, quilting, welding and woodworks. The center additionally provides specialized classes to students with disabilities that include drawing and rendering, brush painting, music and singing.
