Pages Literacy Tutoring, LLC supports literacy development for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Services are grounded in the Illinois Comprehensive Literacy Plan and the Seven Components of Literacy: Oracy, Phonological Awareness, Word Recognition, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Writing. Private tutor, Dr. Wanda Turk, is a licensed k-6 teacher in Illinois, who has worked as an interventionist, classroom teacher, one-to-one tutor, and tutoring program coordinator. Education includes masters and doctoral degrees in education, with a research focus on early childhood literacy, holistic teaching and learning, and child-centered, networked systems of support. Professional training includes IMSE Orton-Gillingham Plus, designed for learners with dyslexia, and LETRS, which provides research-based knowledge on how to effectively teach phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension designed to maximize learning. Dr. Turk believes in life-long learning and continues to study literacy research, participate in professional development, and engage in cross-disciplinary relationships with speech-language pathologists, special educators, and mental health professionals.
