The East Bay German International School (EBGIS) and the East Bay International High School (EBIHS) are an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering preschool through high school programs. The EBGIS Early Childhood Program (preschool and kindergarten) employs bilingual immersion and a pre-academic curriculum taught in an engaging and developmentally appropriate way. EBGIS Early Childhood students transition successfully to the EBGIS Elementary School and Middle School, where rigorous academics based on proven German curricula combine with literature-rich English Language Arts instruction. Advanced science topics are introduced starting in fifth grade, and a third language, either Spanish or French, begins in sixth grade. Small classes and an expert international faculty ensure that each student thrives intellectually, social-emotionally, and artistically. The on-site East Bay International High School (EBIHS) offers the internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. All EBIHS students undertake high-level studies, including Advanced Placement (AP) classes and the full IB Diploma Programme. The IB is an academically rigorous, internationally oriented approach described as the “gold standard” in high school education. The main language of instruction at EBIHS is English, while students may pursue multiple additional language tracks. No knowledge of a foreign language is required for admission to the EBGIS Early Childhood Program or to EBIHS.
